During our Discovery Call I will help you clarify your goals and the weak or missing value drivers in your business that may get in the way of maximizing the value. The Discovery Call I offer, for free is the best place to start an initial conversation. The readiness assessment, we do together during our discovery call will reveal the “red flags” that might get in the way of a smooth business exit. I do not charge for this assessment because if I can help owners see a path forward to a successful business exit then perhaps they will take the first step and start planning with me.
When we meet, we will discuss your business and exit goals. Then I will guide you through a transition readiness assessment and produce a report. This will take about 10 minutes. The assessment report will reveal the red flags, right now in your business that may prevent you from achieving your goals. When you have clarity on that, you know your priorities - where to start.
I will explain the exit planning process and the role of the exit planner and the roles of other key advisors on your deal team. I will be able to answer any questions you may have and then we can decide if it makes sense for
us to work together.
My Advisory Fees
As a certified exit planner, I am 100% dedicated to you, the owner's success and do not receive or ask for any remuneration from the other professionals on your team.
My fees are quoted in advance and detailed in an engagement letter I provide. The engagement letter outlines the specific deliverables you will receive through this process. Whether you commit to a full comprehensive exit plan or planning on a component by component basis you will know how much it will cost in advance.
The cost of my planning services and coordination range depending on the size of the business and complexities involved in the transfer process. However, they are minor when compared to the added value the business will gain, efficiencies and other tangible benefits you will experience through the exit planning process.
There is no pressure or obligation on your part. If at the end of our call, you want me to help you move forward, I can. If you want to use the assessment report to do it yourself - you can. The only obligation for you is to show up and be authentic and honest in your responses so I can provide you with the best advice I can
I am open and enthusiastic about speaking to any business owner who is serious thinking about exiting their business and recognizes the value in following an exit planning process and understands the key role the exit planner plays. Proper exit planning takes time and the less time you have the less options you will have. If you are a year or less away from exiting, there’s not much you are going to be able to do to grow the value of your business. My clients generally have companies with revenues from $5-20MM, have a management team in place and value expert advise.
All that said, I obviously can’t talk to everyone. I allocate a limited number of appointments each week, for these free calls to talk to business owners who are genuinely motivated and ready to talk about planning their business exit, and whom I can actually help.
